We Substitute Radiance

We Substitute Radiance
6/2008, Stickfigure Records & Inam Records

Lid Emba's collaboration with Bobcrane, one of the various solo projects of Bloomington, Indiana resident Ryan Huber. Bobcrane marries e-bow drones, feedback, and low end grace to boom box mechanics. Despite being separated by over 500 miles and having different recording setups, Sean and Ryan assembled six tracks of art-pop damaged musique electronique by snail mailing sound files back and forth. Inam is Ryan's label. Mastered immaculate by James Plotkin. Headphone food supreme.

Reason Isn't Radar Reason Isn't Radar
2006, Stickfigure Records

Band-less in 2005, Sean focused on finishing Lid Emba's debut, released on Stickfigure in 2006. All sonics were produced by a burning brain and hours of rigor; no MIDI, no sequencing, no massive plug-in library. A variety of methods were used, from routing the synth straight into the computer to stitching sounds together that were originally deconstructed by shareware processors or recorded by a rickety Dr. Sample; craziness. After an absurd amount of work and time Sean upgraded a bit and finished it all up. It felt like he'd untied an impossible knot.
